Education:
MBA – University of Phoenix MS studies / BS – University of NC, Wilmington
Background:
I’ve spent several years in this industry starting out with Validation, Metrology, Maintenance, then moving into Compliance and Regulatory, and eventually building several different consulting offices or divisions in the NC area (8 so far). There were opportunities to learn about traditional Pharma, Cell and Gene Therapy, Tissue products, API, Nutraceuticals, Biotech, and so much more. Most recently I’ve had the awesome job of building a training center that focused on Aseptic Processing. My career has taken me all over the US, and to a couple of cool places internationally. I’ve been heavily involved with both ISPE and PDA for over 25 years now as a volunteer in several positions.
What excites you about being a mentor?
The ability to give back to our internal community. Throughout my career I’ve experienced a lot and learned a lot. If I can support someone by sharing my experiences or approaches to help someone find their way – I find that tremendously rewarding. Sometimes all it takes is listening.
What are you looking for in a mentee?
Contribution to the conversation, interest in learning and sharing their experiences, and willingness to think outside of the “normal” structures. I look forward to sharing but also learning from my Mentee – they have a lot to contribute as well! Come to the conversation with questions / issues / challenges – but also bring some potential solutions.
Hobbies/Fun Facts:
I’ve been married for 30 years, have 4 grown children, and 5 grandchildren. We just learned that we have one more on the way, and we’re quite excited! My family is my center, and it’s fantastic that they are all close by. We also have 3 dogs, and I love music, movies, reading, crocheting, and recently learned that I really enjoy being on a cruise ship! Traveling is a must – and I am always thrilled to meet new people!
